ENGINEERING MANAGER

Purpose:

The position of Engineering Manager is appointed by and reports directly to the Managing Director of the Walter Sales Company. This position, working with the engineering departments of Walter North America and Walter Global, is responsible for all the engineering department and is also responsible for the successful delivery of projects and quotations, in a timely and accurate manner, responsible for the handling of special projects for customer tooling, also responsible directly to local Technology Center, Application, Training and Internal Sales departments. The Engineering Manager will supervise engineering personnel in that capacity, this position will provide technical assistance to Engineers regarding the completion of special projects, problem solving, and prioritization of workflow to ensure customer satisfaction. This position is responsible to gather and maintain current industry and competitive information. Measure potential product impact and suggest future business direction. Establish and maintain a communication link assuring corporate wide knowledge exchanges providing effective product application and direction.

Main Responsibilities:

Quoting of Products

Supervise the project and quote engineering department personnel and workflow.

Collect the necessary information needed to generate accurate and timely quotes.

Analyze customer needs to ensure that requested tool(s) are within WALTER capability and can be produced.

Present quotes and drawings to customer to in sure customer understanding of product.

Utilize the provided CAD, SAP, CAPP, CAT and ENGIN costing systems for quote generation as needed.

Collect and analyze quote dispositions to determine accurate reasons for orders denied proposals.

Special projects

Develop concepts to meet customer needs, working in conjunction with sales personnel. 

Generate quotes and prints for tools to include necessary specifications cost savings.

Oversee the manufacturing of the special tools to ensure the product meets customer needs and delivery deadlines. 

Provide engineering support at initial startup of manufacturing and during production.

Facilitate problem-solving process when needed for modifications of product during production.

Follow-up on proposed modifications of existing tools

Complete documentation of the data generated throughout the testing process of the special projects.

Complete ROI sheets to illustrate to the customer the cost savings of the special project tool

Technology Center

Develop machining process and execute locally.

Collect the necessary information needed to generate customer presentation and demos.

Bring new tool concepts globally to local Tech Center.

Able to provide information regarding Industry 4.0 and WALTER services.

Responsible to generate CNC programs using dedicated software's.

Able to generate complete processes for manufacturing.

As needed, machining customer workpiece in-house to demonstrate WALTER solutions

Education and Experience:

Undergraduate degree in engineering with8-10years' experience in the cutting tool industry dealing with engineering of tools.

Knowledge of cutting tool applications, designs, and manufacturing required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have project supervision experience in coordinating all efforts towards the successful conclusion of projects.

Knowledge of CNC machine programming.

Shall carry himself (herself) in a professional way with an exemplary attitude toward working companions, customers, and daily activities.
