Bilingual Full-Time Senior Accountant (CPC Preferred, but not Required) - Mexico, Fully Remote
Accounting Experience required: U.S. GAAP and U.S. Tax (U.S. Reporting standards, not Mexican reporting standards)
Compensation: $30,000-35,000 MXN + Performance Based Bonuses + 20 PTO days + Other Benefits

Founded in 2016 and based out of Atlanta, Georgia, USA Rod & Associates provides tax, accounting, consulting, and corporate outsourcing services. Our firm is experiencing growth, and we are looking for a full-time Senior Accountant to join our team in Mexico for our subsidiary, wholly owned by Rod & Associates and its affiliates. However, the clients and accounting standards are US-based. This role will report directly to the Accounting Manager. Management is dedicated to the growth and development of the Senior Accountant, with mentorship and guidance provided from the outset.
Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions for multiple small to medium-sized (SME) clients and will also supervise and review the work of an accounting intern or junior accountant. This role includes handling both US Tax and US GAAP accounting, making it essential for the candidate to have experience in public and tax accounting. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for handling a limited number of year-end tax requirements such as 1040 filings, filing 1099-NEC forms and some small business tax returns. The Senior Accountant will be the direct point of contact with U.S. clients or stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks for 1-3 small clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to US GAAP or US Tax financial reporting frameworks.
- Supervise and review the work of an accounting intern or junior accountant.
- Prepare and review financial statements or internal financials, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements depending on client needs.
- Handle the preparation of a limited number of year-end tax returns, ensuring compliance with US tax laws and regulations.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to ensure all client deliverables are met on time and with high quality.
- Be the direct point of contact with clients or stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of US tax returns for both corporate and individual clients, as needed.
- Ensure all accounting processes and controls are followed in line with the firm's standards and client requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate financial information to clients, addressing any queries they may have.
- Support during month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain client confidentiality and protect proprietary information.
- Understand the differences between GAAP and Tax accounting, ensuring appropriate application in client work.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on both U.S. Tax and U.S. GAAP.
- At least 2 years of experience in U.S. Tax and filing 1040s (basic tax returns for individuals and small businesses)
- Management experience a plus
- Experience in U.S. public accounting is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Familiarity with accounting software, such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Nested IF statements, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) with strong communication and writing skills in English.
- Strong English communication skills required, as interviews will be conducted in English.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a team player.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Intellectually curious in understanding the overall client business and operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an MBA a plus.
- Contador Público Certificado (CPC) a major plus.
- Background in public accounting and handling external accounting for clients a major plus.
- Experience in both public accounting and private industry roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt to a growing firm's needs.
- Familiarity with US accounting principles and US tax laws and the ability to handle tax planning and compliance tasks.
- Financial Modeling a plus, but not required
- Real estate experience, specifically with homebuilders and developers, a plus but not required.
