The Chemical Engineer is responsible for the chemical area of the plant in support of the Operation and General Maintenance of the plant.
The position is based in Cosoleacaque, Veracruz.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Operations Manager is responsible for the chemical supervision of the operation and maintenance of the Plant, following established procedures, prioritizing the safety of people, the environment and equipment, to achieve environmental management. optimal performance and availability. - Supervision of the operation and maintenance from the chemical point of view of the Plant. Direct supervision of the contracting company that performs the technical service and supply of chemicals.
- Monitoring and control of the chemical parameters of the water and steam treatment systems and the quality performance indicators (KPIs) required for the process.
- Preparation of chemical reports and support for corporate environmental reports according to the requirements of the company and the Plant Administration.
- Development of chemical procedures that optimize the performance and availability of the Plant and environmental management, minimizing existing risks.
- Attendance at daily meetings to coordinate operational and maintenance activities of the Plant.
- Participation in safety and environmental inspections at the Plant.
- Participate in the organization of chemical training necessary to improve the professional skills of Plant personnel.
- Selection and management of the actions of subcontracted chemical specialists, ensuring that the work and services are carried out following the procedures and standards established in the Plant.
- Support for the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at the Plant.
- Supervision of the supply of chemical consumables for the Plant.
- Promote continuous improvement by actively participating in root cause analyzes (5Whys) and Lessons learned.
- Follow HSE policy, HSE procedures and ensure good cleanliness in your workplace.
- Contribute to HSE management by participating in the site risk management process: hazard identification, risk assessment and prevention plan.
- Provide appropriate incident and emergency response (health & safety, fire, environmental, property damage) and notify your line supervisor immediately in the event of an emergency, incident, near-miss or dangerous situation and participate in investigation and correction processes if necessary.
- Contribute to HSE management and be a source of proposals for continuous improvement of safety and environmental care conditions in the workplace and other HSE processes at the sites.
- Ensure that the permit to work (PTW) process is well implemented / implement the permit to work (PTW) procedure.
- Ensure that the Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) process is correctly applied/apply the LOTO procedure.
- Ensure that the contractor management process is well applied/apply contractor management procedure.
- Ensure that routine safety inspections are well conducted and maintained (workplace safety inspections, fire safety inspections, level 2 inspections, etc. appoint your own processes)
- Fulfill responsibilities consistent with the HSE management system/plan and procedures and the training matrix and annual training plan linked to individual objectives integrated into the performance evaluation process.
- Active participation in the preparation of annual plant budgets and monitoring of monthly budget control, generation of requisitions, entry of invoices, monthly provisions, etc.

- Maintain compliance with ContourGlobal safe work practices outlined in the organization's Health and Safety Management System.
- Support coworkers to help ensure that job tasks are appropriately reviewed before work begins and when changes occur in the work environment or task requirements.
- Report any unsafe work conditions or hazards to your Health and Safety Manager or Operational Leader immediately.
- Report any actual or potential health and safety incidents to your Health and Safety Manager or operational leader immediately.
- Participate in Health, Safety and Environment activities as requested, i.e. incident investigations, inspections, effectiveness reviews and sharing of best practices.
- Follow HSE policy, HSE procedures and ensure good order and cleanliness in your workplace.
- Contribute to HSE management by participating in the site risk management process: hazard identification, risk assessment and prevention plan.
- Ensure that the Contractor Management Procedure is properly applied.
- Fulfill responsibilities consistent with the HSE Management System/Plan and Procedures and the Training Matrix and Annual Training Plan linked to individual objectives integrated into the performance appraisal process.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Chemical Industrial Engineer / Chemical / Process Engineer
- Knowledge of water and steam treatment for high pressure steam systems.
- Knowledge of water treatment for cooling and Reverse Osmosis systems.
- Training in loading and unloading operations of dangerous goods, use and handling of chemicals.
- Highest level of ethics and personal responsibility.
- Genuine commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Flexible, creative, and solution-oriented approach to issues.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position
- English Advanced/Intermediate
- Knowledge in SAP
- Microsoft Office skills
