Manager the end-to-end sourcing and contract management milestones for assigned cases, including issuing RFXs, evaluating proposals, redlining supplier agreements, leading supplier negotiation and ensuring all compliance, legal, business, and diversity spend criteria are met for awarding supplier contracts.
Collaborates with internal key stakeholders and category management to oversee sourcing activities, negotiate prices, manage payment terms, achieve Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) savings, counter cost increase proposals, generate sourcing documents, conduct supplier evaluations, and provide guidance to business requestors in adhering to the sourcing management process (SMP).
Conduct commercial terms and conditions negotiations and ensure proper risk mitigation using standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, templates, methodologies, and knowledge gained via the Procurement Academy.
While work is typically managed using established procedures, regulations, and professional standards, the Sourcing & Contract Management associate offers advice on rights, obligations, and issue resolution related to contract performance with some interpretation.
Supports Humana departments for early involvement and collaboration, initiates SMP deliverables, notifying all applicable parties, and overseeing the approval of contracts via the Due Diligence process, leading to effective contract management.
Resourcefully organize the negotiation and approval of associated deliverables within the SMP and proactively seek value, cost savings, and efficiency opportunities across assigned cases.
Act as a strong negotiator, guiding and leading the business requestor and the SCMO team to get the best results and connect Humana business units and corporate departments to create, assess, negotiate, and finalize contracts to procure goods and services. Guides business partners and stakeholders on assessing and reducing contractual risk before finalizing agreements. This involves collaborating with Business Requestors and Suppliers to ensure that contractual provisions align with business and legal requirements.
Collaborates with Legal, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Business Partner Compliance, and other internal regulatory/compliance functions to minimize contractual risk.
Manage escalations for further support and ensure sourcing and contracting activities adhere to Humana's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all sourcing and contracting activities.
Monitors sourcing and contract management assigned workloads and dashboards to ensure the smooth operation of the process.
Responsible for decision-making on moderate complex issues regarding technical and system approaches for project components and work to be performed with minimal direction.
Expertly tackles various challenges, from routine administrative tasks to medium problem-solving.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Providing strategic and administrative support to the designated internal customer(s), L1/L2 spend categories, and Parents of Departments (POD). Key responsibilities include:
· Upon receiving assignments for new cases, initiate an internal analysis, review the existing supplier documentation, and create the corresponding contractual documentation while ensuring the associated costs are budgeted.
· Conduct thorough internal and external research to evaluate suppliers and select those that offer cost-effective and reliable services.
· Organize kickoff meetings, create and update procurement documentation, gather sourcing and contractual information using Humana's market intelligence tools, processes, SOPs, Job Aids, templates, and methodologies.
· Schedules Q&A sessions between business requestors and suppliers, sourcing cross-functional team members, providing remediation, and reviewing qualitative and quantitative factor proposals and business terms and conditions.
· Prepares RFX packages, take guidance, and facilitate coordination across the cross-functional sourcing team to execute sourcing events.
· Provides input to businesses with legal risks contract provisions, initiates and review redline, accompany redlines with explanatory comments, monitor redline status, and follow up with impacted parties.
· Collaborates with colleagues, and stakeholders using internal redlines.
· Lead the negotiation process with suppliers to identify pricing terms and conditions (T&Cs) that maximize cost savings while ensuring the quality of services, products, equipment, and solutions.
· Engage in and mediate conversations regarding establishing standards for assessing and managing suppliers while evaluating resulting contracts and performance guarantees. This involves initiating the corresponding sourcing and contracting process, which includes concluding, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing business contract provisions.
· Manage decision-making processes for new supplier agreements, renewals, and amendments while collaborating with internal stakeholders to address sourcing and contract management needs, review case/sourcing request completeness, and discuss timelines, budgets, sourcing strategies, and deliverables.
· Encourages business requestors to adhere to Humana's templates, integrate due diligence and legal requirements into sourcing activities, and communicates risk exposure to business requestors
· Operationalizes the supplier contract/addendum/SOW/Order Form/SOW to include notification to the Business Requestor, including but not limited to Contract Management, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing.
· Proficiently utilize sourcing and contract management systems and technologies to optimize processes and enhance the efficiency of sourcing and contracting operations Routing and overseeing the approval of supplier contracts by other Humana reviewers and Due Diligence groups such as EIP, PIRC, BC/DR, and FDR plays a significant role in the process.
Cross-functional communication and influence: serving as a connection point between the department, designated staff, and other teams:
· Collaborate with Category Management associates to manage assigned cases and promote best practice standards.
· Serve as the Sourcing and Contract Management Point of Contact (POC) for assigned cases. This responsibility entails escalating the need for consultancy and information related to the operational administration of contract negotiations for administrative to complex sourcing activities.
· Consult with the finance, AP, legal, and compliance departments to guide compliance-related issues affecting the execution of a supplier agreement.
Education and skills requirements:
· Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited University[DC1]
· Required: 7 years of experience sourcing and negotiating commercial terms and conditions.
· Required: Knowledge of procurement concepts and processes.
· Required: Exceptional written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
· Required: Must be willing to train and educate team and users in new processes, policies, and procedures or technologies.
· Required: Exemplify excellent emotional intelligence in positively influencing various stakeholders and improving business dynamics within Procurement and broadly across Humana; evidence of continuous positive customer feedback.
· Required: The ability to read and interpret contract specifications within the Procurement process
· Preferred: Contract manager/ procurement specialist/legal ops/ paralegal experience.
· Preferred: Contract redlining etiquette/set of rules expertise to help drive contract negotiations forward.
· Preferred: Keenly aware of personal strengths and weaknesses; great at receiving, applying, and giving constructive feedback.
· Preferred: Experience with data-driven strategies, proficiency in automation tools, strong analytical skills, creativity, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
· Preferred: Coupa, aSSIST, iCertis knowledge.
· Preferred: Healthcare /highly regulated industry sourcing and contract management activities.
Unsure if BA degree requirement is required by HR for P3s. Some organizations are accepting 7+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
