- Supervisor: Accelerated Materials Development Unit Leader at IAMSM (Dr. Alex Elías Zúñiga)
- Direct Reports: None

- Requirements
- Dedicated full-time to research project activities.
- Proficient in English (oral and written).
- Availability for travel and participation in international collaborations.
- Must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Nanotechnology or related field.
- Demonstrates outstanding leadership potential and commitment to developing an innovative research agenda with high scientific impact.
- Previous experience in additive manufacturing technologies (metals and polymers).
- Previous experience in mathematical modeling on multiscale Multiphysics phenomena.
- Previous experience in the use of artificial intelligence methodologies for the prediction of complex phenomena.
- Published at least 6 scientific journal articles indexed in Scopus.
- Demonstrate knowledge in MATLAB and Python.
- A team player open to interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Demonstrated oral and written English skills at least at the level of B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Spanish proficiency is desirable but not required.

- Serve as a link between members of the Global Initiative for Additive Manufacturing by enabling the knowledge transfer between institutions.
- Enabling interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. The researcher brings knowledge in mathematical modeling of materials and complex phenomena, experience in research projects, especially in advanced sustainable manufacturing technologies, and knowledge in discovering patterns and complex systems.
- Responsibilities
- Develop mathematical models to describe the multiscale Multiphysics phenomena involved in accelerating material development for sustainable manufacturing technologies.
- Harness artificial intelligence algorithms and techniques for the agile prediction and optimization of complex phenomena, enabling the accelerated development of sustainable manufacturing technologies and novel materials.
- The candidate is expected to embark on research stays hosted by the Global Initiative for Additive Manufacturing members to ensure knowledge transfer between institutions alongside the long-term vision and success of the project.
- Collaborate with other team members on interdisciplinary projects and publish results in high-impact scientific journals.
- Collaborate with other team members on research proposals for international calls.
- Expected Results
- Writing at least three scientific articles per year and documentation of processes.
- A strategic report on outcomes, the transferred knowledge, and a collaborative future work plan resulting from each research stay hosted by the Global Initiative for Additive Manufacturing members.
- Collaborations with research centers and universities to develop research projects at the IAMSM.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Postgraduate degree in Nanotechnology, or related field.
- Professional Experience
- The candidate must have a strong background in modeling multiscale multiphysics phenomena, with a focus on understanding the interaction between process parameters and materials properties for predicting, controlling, and describing sustainable manufacturing technologies.
- The candidate must know how to implement advanced artificial intelligence algorithms and techniques, such as Artificial Neural Networks and Genetic Evolutionary Algorithms, which can lead to the agile and accelerated prediction and optimization of multiscale multiphysics phenomena involved in sustainable manufacturing technologies.
- The candidate must have experience understanding and modeling additive manufacturing technologies, such as Selective Laser Melting.
- The candidate must possess skills to collaborate with researchers from diverse fields, including physics, materials, and mathematics, highlighting the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary environments.
- The candidate must have a good scientific publication record, with numerous articles published in high-impact scientific journals, and experience presenting research findings to academic and scientific communities.
