The Senior Plant Accountant is part of both the Corporate Finance team and the local Plant Management team. They will collaborate with site management to drive and improve operational performance and profitability.
Responsibilities:
· Month-End Close: Responsible for variance analysis and management reporting. Responsible for linking continuous improvement plans with monthend results.
· Business Partnership: Partner with site team to ensure ownership and accountability of financial performance, identifying process improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the profit and loss statement.
o Drive creation and achievement of the approved budget of the Plant.
o Partner with Plant Management Team to achieve established goals.
· Analysis: Partner with the Plant Management Team to ensure achievement of plant objectives, analyzing data to initiate improvements and cost savings.
o Present plant performance review to management.
o Analyze Balanced Scorecard daily with continuous improvement mindset
o Explain variances to plan, to forecast, and other time periods as required.
o Weekly analysis of material variances to avoid surprises and drive improvement:
- Consumption Variance
- Purchase Price Variance
- Scrap Variance
o Audit PAP cost savings projects to ensure savings.
· Forecasting: Submit monthly forecasts and annual budgets. Prepare and submit 90 day forecasts, weekly forecast updates, and production schedules.
· Cost Accounting and Inventory: Annual update of overhead rates and cost revaluation. Setup standard costs for new products. Compare/analyze costs of similar products.
· Continuous Improvement: Support a culture of continuous improvement, using financial analysis to evaluate and drive improvements via cost savings projects, sales growth opportunities, inventory accuracy and reduction.
· Culture: Model Corporate Values and Principles, including supporting a safe workplace
Skills and Education Required:
· Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
· CPA, CMA, and/or MBA desirable
· 5+ years as a leader and financial manager with a strong operational focus.
· Make effective and clear presentations on complex topics.
· Ability to Lead, manage and develop others.
· Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical and communication skills.
· Effectively interface with all levels of employees as well as external auditors.
· Experience with ERP software like SAP Business One
· Strong Excel skills
· Experience with databases or other useful software
