Product Development Engineer is a project manager responsible for getting new products developed, tested, and introduce to our showrooms. He/she is part of a small product development team that liaises with merchandising to identify new opportunities and works directly with outside vendors to develop or modify exclusive products for BTG. He/she then works with manufacturing to get product produced efficiently. Product Development Engineer must have strong project management skills and be able to build strong cross-functional skills.

Key Requirements:

• BS/MS in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial preferred
• 4 to 8 years of relevant work experience, including product development, engineering, and product sourcing—window treatment experience preferred
• Experience in consumer products desirable
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong project management skills
• Hands-on and result-oriented

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with merchandising and material planners to identify key product needs
• Work with suppliers to develop and test new products
• Identify key technical issues with current products and work with suppliers to improve performance
• Develop in-house tests that simulate product use and anticipate product problems prior to market introduction
• Work with manufacturing to introduce new products into productio
• We will set-up the new hire for success by having him/her work in US/CN showrooms for 1-2 months to understand products, selling features and develop relationships within our organization.
