International company of Canadian origin dedicated to the manufacturing of dry-type electrical transformers, looking for:

Mechanical Design

Overall Position Purpose:

This position is also responsible for the Mechanical Design for all transformer distribution and power products. Mechanical design would include the responsibility to review quotations for special mechanical requirements, review the customer order package, complete the outline approval drawings for medium and complex designs and to complete the detail manufacturing drawings in the most cost effective manner and to meet the SOT & DPMO Department targets.

Key Responsibility:

· Review quote, order specifications, bus co-ordination

· Work in conjunction with the Electrical Designers

· Discuss any discrepancies/clarifications with the Mechanical Design Supervisor, Electrical Designer, Sales and at times the Customer

· Prepare medium and complex mechanical design outline drawings using ACAD or SolidWorks

· Send approval outline drawing to Sales for approval

· Review customer comments (if any) on approved drawings

· Prepare the mechanical manufacturing drawings

· Prepare final enclosure drawings and forward to Purchasing

· Order any special materials if required

· Communicate the final details for the design with the Electrical Designers

· Create drawings for filing storage (PDF drawings) for electronic storage

· Understand the design guidelines in SPI and related Engineering documents and implement them at minimum total cost for product

· Implement changes through the HCN process when applicable on a timely basis

· Be able to take site measurements for retro-fit replacement transformers

Requirements:

• Min. 3 years design experience in Transformers and/or Reactors, specialty transformers
• Bachelor's Degree Engineering (mechanical), design, tech.
• Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering
• Fluent in technical and conversational English, both written and spoken
• Expertise in drafting software (SolidWorks and ACAD)
• Knowledge of mechanical requirements for CSA, UL, ABS, Lloyds, and other transformer regulatory standards
