POSITION SUMMARY This position will manage all aspects of plant operations to ensure safe practices, quality and environmental compliance, efficiency, conformance to customer requirements, and continuous improvement by working closely with his/her management team including Engineering, Tool Room, Quality, and Production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ? Delegates authority to managers and supervisors but maintains oversight responsibility and accountability for plant operations ? Analyzes the plant's current operational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and constraints in order to develop, prepare, and implement goals, projects, and policies that will enable Wiegel to achieve a competitive advantage in the market ? Monitors plant expenditures and assures costs are within Wiegel guidelines ? Recommends changes to improve quality and reduce costs ? Forecasts future trends/needs and develops action plans which will enable Wiegel to meet the predicted situation ? Coordinates with sales on a regular basis concerning existing and new business to effectively support the growth strategy of Wiegel ? Develops operating strategies and plan to pro-actively prepare for future demands based on analysis of current and past results ? Maintains strong customer service focus for all plant employees
? Create an environment that values diversity and supports employee growth through communication, training, recognition, and rewards ? Over-sees staff training, performance, discipline and makes decisions regarding job transfers, promotions, and terminations. Conducts performance appraisals with input from others ? Reviews and analyzes tool room, production, quality, maintenance, and operations reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems ? Assists human resources with conducting investigations and discussions to resolve employee issues, discrimination and harassment charges and safety complaints ? Comply with all company policies and procedures in including safety and attendance requirements ? May be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws ? Enforce health and safety protocols throughout all stages of production. ? Collaborate with management to implement safety changes and improvements. ? Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including those set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). ? Promote a safety-conscious culture among plant employees. MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES ? 10 years of proven experience in leading high performing teams within a manufacturing environment ? Assist with plant build-out in Mexico and act as liaison with head quarters in the United States. ? Flexible availability for 1st and 2nd shift operations ? Ability provide own means of transportation for commuting ? Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) ? Ability to travel to the United States for training for extended periods ? Recruit, train, and onboard new employees ? Understanding of metal stamping and or metal forming ? Experience working with punch presses and fabricating machines ? Basic knowledge of metrology and blue print reading ? Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written ? Exceptional decision making and problem-solving skills ? Demonstrated effective plant workforce management and motivation to achieve safety, quality and efficiency requirements ? Demonstrated ability to engage employees to create and maintain a cohesive team environment ? Basic knowledge of relevant ISO and IATF standards ? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs ? Familiarity with manufacturing software ? Ability to work flexible hours
