Descripción
This is responsible professional and technical work involving overall management of the Human Resources department at a manufacturing plant. Responsibilities include the development, implementation and interpretation of policies and procedures regarding safety, workers' compensation, recruiting, employee relations, handbook administration, payroll, record keeping, communications, and benefit administration. Acts as an employee ombudsman on matters of concern to employees.
Responsible for the following major tasks:
-Union management
-Directs and/or performs the recruitment, selection and orientation processes for all open positions.
-Maintains personnel files on all salary employees and ensures that all information is
kept confidential and secure.
-Interprets and administers company policies and procedures as they relate to Human Resources decisions.
-Directs Safety Committee.
-Monitors statistical trends relating to absenteeism, turnover, headcount, accident frequency, lost time accident frequency, accident severity, and training.
-Administers training program including a training needs analysis, training schedule, training effectiveness and maintenance of employee training records.
-Conducts [or arranges instructors for] various training (i.e. safety, supervisor skills).
-Offers suggestions for development or amendment of company policies and procedures.
-Monitors and promotes the suggestion program.
-Monitors and assures compliance with federal and state mandated safety programs (i.e. Lockout/Tagout, Overhead Cranes, Hazard Communication - Employee Right to Know, Confined Space, etc.).
-Monitors and assures compliance with federal and state mandated programs (i.e. Americans with Disability Act, Family Medical Leave Act, etc.).
-Environmental Health/Safety Representative for the facility. ISO Management
Representative.
-Performs monthly safety audits where plant employees are working.
-Audits, verifies, and adjusts salary employee payroll.
-Advises and assists supervisors and managers in interpreting and administering the employee handbook.
-Supervises a staff with responsibility for hourly recruiting, new employee orientation, benefit administration, employee record keeping, unemployment compensation, safety training, workers' compensation and payroll.
-Serves as a member of the management team in making decisions regarding the operation of the manufacturing plant.
-Special projects and assignments.
