Job Title: Commodity Manager
Location: Global Manufacturing Company with a presence in 90 countries, specializing in the production of electrical installation and information network products for both residential and industrial applications.
Position Objective:
The Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies for aluminum and fasteners across various business units. This role involves leading negotiations, contract development, and achieving year-over-year improvements in total cost of ownership. The manager will also oversee supplier performance, manage relationships for direct material commodities, and enhance working capital through inventory reductions and improved payment terms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive supply chain strategies for assigned commodities, focusing on quality, delivery, cost, inventory, sustainability, and new product development.
- Review and analyze current commodity spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, issue RFQs, lead negotiations, manage supplier transitions, and collaborate with engineering on VA/VE projects to meet annual cost reduction targets.
- Assess supplier capacity and ensure alignment with the business unit's demand plan. Take proactive measures to meet service level goals.
- Negotiate, develop, and maintain purchasing contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and supplier stocking agreements for assigned commodities.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure maximum value in terms of price, quality, service, and reliability. Collaborate with suppliers to reduce lead times and enhance overall performance using lean methodologies.
- Address market-related disruptions and lead crisis management efforts when necessary. Provide leadership and communication across internal teams and suppliers to mitigate risk.

- Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional project teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in negotiation, change management, and influencing key stakeholders.
- Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database software.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct thorough research, summarize data effectively, and make informed recommendations.
- Highly collaborative and able to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrates ethical sourcing practices and professionalism.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Procurement/Sourcing.
- ISM/APICS certification or affiliation is a plus.
