The text presented in various languages across the vehicle screens and mobile applications plays a crucial role in these products, being one of the key enablers to sell in different countries around the globe.
An in-vehicle and/or mobile app translator is responsible of coordinating the management of the text displayed on the vehicle's components and mobile applications which is translated into 30 + different languages and is also in charge of incorporating those texts and its translations into the internal translation system or assigned CAT tools.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop new and more efficient processes that automate our tasks and improve quality of the deliveries.
- Support program and project-specific translation activities following Ford's directions.
- Work with HMI application team, designers, feature owners, and developers to understand new features and help to identify the best terminology, trade-offs, and guide designers to incorporate local language considerations in prototypes.
- Review and identify issues in the copy that must be translated.
- Collect and populate translation documents based on inputs from Ford Translation Engineers.
- Maintain regular contact with Project Managers (PMs) and Designers to stay updated on project statuses and requirements.
- Maintain constant communication with Language Service Providers to track projects, provide additional context if
required, and answer questions. - Communicate effectively with Local Markets.
- Stay alert to delivery dates and ensure that all translation projects are completed on time.
- Translate and review additional projects.
- Review keys and translations to ensure they are accurate and meet quality standards.
- Create and review Glossary entries and Translation Memory descriptions.
- Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools proficiently to manage translation projects.
- Translate with Al tools and ensure the review of the content to guarantee quality.
- Be capable of reading and understanding XML files as part of the translation process.
- Create, add, and manage database entries in the internal translation system to ensure all project data is up-to-date and accurately recorded.
- Attend regular translation meetings, create meeting agendas, and document meeting minutes.
- Support regular meetings among Mexican, United States, and European Translation Teams to align consistency and internal decisions.
- Support occasional meetings with other countries such as China, Thailand, Dubai, etc. usually in their time zone.
QualificationsEducational Background:
Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, International Relations, International Business, or similar.
Language Proficiency:
C1-C2 English level.
A2-B1 in one additional language besides Spanish and English.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in using CAT tools and other translation-related software.
Experience in content management systems.
Knowledge in using Jira for tracking and managing project tasks and issues.
Knowledge of electrical and HMI Subsystems (cluster, center stack/Sync, rear displays, physical controls) and driver assistance features preferred.
Penchant to learn about new automotive HMI technologies in the industry.
Working knowledge of GPDS, Ford Deliverables.
Communication Skills:
