About the Role
The Jr Controller will be responsible for overseeing and executing the main Mexico's general accounting operations. This is planned as a stand-alone position supporting various functions and departments of the Mexico business unit while serving as a liaison to the centralized accounting operations at the headquarter. The primary responsibilities will include overseeing the SLA of the accounting and tax third-party (external firm), including reviewing monthly and annual financial reports, implementing strong local controls to mitigate risks, and ensuring accurate financial results in compliance with accounting standards. Maintenance of an ERP accounting system. The role will also analyze and execute the local functions of Accounts Receivable (Credit & Collection), Accounts Payable and will keep track of employee expenses.
- Oversee the General Ledger, financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely monthly financial reporting for informed decision-making.
- Analyzes and executes the local functions of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the inventory accounting.
- Ensures consistent local implementation of accounting principles, procedures, and controls in line with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with all departments in MX and the US headquarters to link information in time and place to enhance operational efficiency and financial controls.
- Ensure a healthy portfolio in accordance with established AR & AP KPIs.
- Prepare credit notes such as rebates, discounts, promotions, returns, etc., managing the processes until their approval as much as required.
- Collect information and facilitate the processing of payments to suppliers and vendors, ensuring invoices are paid appropriately.
- Track employee expenses reports, monitoring them to ensure they comply with the authorized budget and applicable policies until reimbursed.
- Designs and prepares ad-hoc reports to support specific needs and performs other related duties to meet corporate objectives.
- Promote a collaborative work environment, encouraging effective communication and cross-training initiatives to enhance team productivity, versatility, and skill development.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management.
About What You Will Bring to the Team
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related.
- 8+ years' experience with demonstrated success.
- Manufacturing and/or Distribution background preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software; advanced Excel.
- Demonstrates the ability to design workflows and procedures, generate innovative solutions, identify and resolve issues promptly, and coordinate projects effectively.
- Displays proficiency in project management and coordination.
- Exhibits professional experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Shows the capacity to generate creative solutions.
- Demonstrates skill in writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Possesses effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to address groups of customers or employees.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in work.
- Displays diligence in completing tasks in a timely manner, utilizing effective time management skills.
- Requires strong leadership abilities, both in managing self and leading others without formal authority.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally sporadically.
