The Director of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of the organization, ensuring that all departments function efficiently and in alignment with company goals. This role involves optimizing processes, managing resources, leading teams, and implementing strategies to drive business growth and operational excellence. The director of Manufacturing Operations plays a key role in developing operational policies, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership:
Lead and manage the operational functions, including safety, quality, manufacturing, maintenance / process engineering, warehousing of the Phillips Industries – Arteaga facility to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize operational processes, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
Oversee and mentor department managers in leadership development, lean principles, and manufacturing best practices to ensure effective teamwork and performance across the organization.
2. Process Optimization:
Analyze current operational processes and systems to identify areas for improvement.
Implement best practices to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving innovation in operational processes.
3. Resource Management:
Ensure proper allocation and utilization of resources, including staffing, equipment, and budget.
Monitor and manage budgets to ensure cost-effective operations.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure operational resources are aligned with company goals.
4. Performance Monitoring:
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of operations.
Regularly assess and report on the performance of operations, making recommendations for improvements.
Manage and resolve any operational issues that arise, ensuring minimal impact on business activities.
5. Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with senior leadership to set operational goals that align with overall company objectives.
Maintain effective communication with other departments, ensuring alignment and coordination across teams.
Serve as a liaison between the operations team and executive management.
6. Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure operational activities are compliant with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Identify potential risks in operations and work to develop strategies for risk mitigation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering or related field; master's degree in business administration (MBA) preferred
Proven experience in an operations management role, with at least 10-12 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership capacity.
Strong understanding of operational best practices, process optimization, and performance management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
Familiarity with project management tools and software.
Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certifications.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
Work Environment:
Full-time position with occasional travel required.
Standard office hours, with the need for flexibility depending on business needs.
